Profiles and Bios

If you are a member of the 1962 graduating class, or would have been if you had stayed at Wheat Ridge High, we would really like you to create a profile and tell something about yourself. You can always update your profile with current information. Your address, phone number and email address are not visible to anyone other than yourself and the website administrator. You can contact other Classmates through the 'Send This Person a Message' link below their profile.

This page has a 'Where Are They Now' button which, when clicked, displays a map of the cities and states where registered classmates live. You might be living near someone and not know it!

Check out the 'Sort' and 'Search' functions. The more classmates that register, the more handy these features will become.

Your registration helps attract other classmates to the site. The effectiveness of the website is a direct correlation to the number of classmates who register. Registering also enables you to post to the Message Board.

Marital status: Married
Children: 6
Occupation: retired teacher, real estate agent for Cutler Realty
Comment: I'm currently living on Portage Lakes in Akron, Ohio.  I attended Grotius College in Maastricht, the Netherlands, the University of  Colorado (where I pledged Delta Gamma), Penn State University, and finally graduated from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, in 1967.  After becoming a high school English teacher, I went on to get my Masters Degree in Elementary Education and Talented and Gifted Education.  I was the Gifted Coordinator for Green Schools until my retirement in 2005.  Unable to stay retired, I joined my husband, Dick, and we started a real estate career with Cutler Real Estate

in Green, Ohio.  We are enjoying "Selling the Lakes".

Dick and I have a blended family of 6...3 boys and 3 girls.  At present we have three grandchildren, but hope for more!  We love traveling and recently went to China.  We also spend time in Hawaii and Breckenridge at our time shares.  We love boating on the lakes and relaxing with our families.  I am really looking forward to seeing everyone at the 50th reunion and catching up on your lives.
What's a favorite high school memory: My favorite memory is being selected Homecoming Queen.
Which faculty members do you best remember: I loved both my Latin and French teachers.
What was fun to do in Wheat Ridge during your high school years: I loved going to the Farmers' Barn after ball games.

Comment: My how time flies!  Chuck and I have been married 46 years.  I think it's true that the longer you are married the more you become like each other.  We pretty much enjoy the same things. Our family, friends, and faith in God are the important things in life to us.  I used to play a lot of tennis but not so much anymore.  Chuck and I enjoy walking together each morning and occasionally playing golf. I'm still working part time for a faith-based non profit working with at risk kids. I have loved reading everyone's bio and am looking forward to our action packed week at the reunion.

Gwen and I have been married for 45 years. For that she will be inducted into sainthood. We have two sons, two daughters-in-law, three grandkids with one in the oven. They are our joy...always have been and always will be. Gwen was super mom at home with the kids for years, then taught school and, for the last several years, has served on the staff of Whiz Kids Tutoring. I have had ten jobs since college - some ministry-type and some business-type jobs. All have been great experiences except one failed business adventure. Not fun. But through it all we have always been involved in some kind of ministry with kids mostly with Young Life and Whiz Kids. We have always felt that is what has made our life together as a family one that is rich and meaningful...not to mention just plain fun. Twenty years ago we were blessed to be in on the startup of Whiz Kids which is a one-on-one tutoring program with urban at-risk kids. It has been amazing!...we now have 750 tutors meeting with struggling kids every week. It’s been fun to watch and have a little hand in it. Along with our kids and grandkids, it’s made life good for us. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the 50!

Back in the "school days" at Wheat Ridge High, two major events started my 'after graduation' life. The first was when Tony and I were married before graduation (which raised some eyebrows), when he was on leave from the Army during the build up for Vietnam. The second was our graduation.

Our first son, Troy was born three years later, followed by son Tim (five years after Troy), and daughter Tonya (five years after Tim). August 11 will mark our 50th anniversary. We have seven wonderful grandchildren, all girls except for one lonely and pampered little boy.

I retired from service with Jeffco Schools in 2001. Tony retired from law enforcement in August of 2010, and we now enjoy seeing our grandchildren and participating in events with Shriners. I guess it's a cliche to say that the years have flown by pretty quickly, but events of yesterday don't seem so far off.

We're lucky that good health has favored us and hope to start checking things off of our bucket list. Next up is an Alaskan cruise that we've been talking about for lots of years.

We make our home in Morrison after several short residential stints in other states which came with Tony's military service and work locations. After having lived in Montana, Tennessee, South Dakota and Texas, we can attest that Colorado is the best place to be, so no plans to move anywhere else.

Best wishes to everyone, and thanks to you for doing a great job on the website - very impressive!!

God Bless!
