Profiles and Bios

If you are a member of the 1962 graduating class, or would have been if you had stayed at Wheat Ridge High, we would really like you to create a profile and tell something about yourself. You can always update your profile with current information. Your address, phone number and email address are not visible to anyone other than yourself and the website administrator. You can contact other Classmates through the 'Send This Person a Message' link below their profile.

This page has a 'Where Are They Now' button which, when clicked, displays a map of the cities and states where registered classmates live. You might be living near someone and not know it!

Check out the 'Sort' and 'Search' functions. The more classmates that register, the more handy these features will become.

Your registration helps attract other classmates to the site. The effectiveness of the website is a direct correlation to the number of classmates who register. Registering also enables you to post to the Message Board.

Sarah Chandler (Parke)

Marital status: Married
Occupation: Consultant
Comment: I live on a small organic farm/orchard in the mountain community of Lillooet British Columbia

with my husband, Trevor, our blue heeler, Moshi, cat Xing and assorted WWOOFers (http://www.wwoof.org).

After WRHS, I attended Colorado College, the best part being the Tour Choir, which had its possibly last reunion in 2015.  Feeling the need for growth and adventure, I left the USA in 1973 to see something of the rest of the world.  Seven years and a few continents later, I emigrated to Canada in 1980 from Nairobi, Kenya.

My husband Trevor has retired from teaching biology and ecology at the Open University of BC, but still does land use planning and public process facilitation through his consulting firm, Landscope, as well as pursuing his passion for organic farming.

Through my consulting business, S. Chandler Consulting, now laid down,  I worked as a facilitator/trainer and human rights educator. In 1995 I spent a year in London studying for an MA in Understanding and Securing Human Rights from the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, University of London. After that, it was  my great pleasure to serve as a member of the facilitation team for the Equitas International Centre for Human Rights Education (Montreal  http://www.equitas.org), facilitating the International Human Rights Training Program.  In Lillooet, I coordinated the Lillooet Restorative Justice Program for ten years, through which we provide alternatives to the court system, as well as human rights education  and restorative practices development in schools. I still serve as a trainer/facilitator with that program.

As a volunteer, I serve as a director of the Canadian Friends Service Committee (http://www.quakerservice.ca), and a director of the Church Council on Justice and Corrections (http://www.ccjc.ca).  My term in each will end in the Fall, 2016

I continue to be passionate about  music and mountains.

My life story for anyone who cares.  ---

After graduation from CSU, I did a Dan Quayle to stay out of Vietnam by joining the Colorado Air National Guard.  After we got back from Phan Rang AB Republic of South Vietnam, I got a job with Adolph Coors Co.  One would think that would be a great job for me, but they were pro war and I wasn’t. Many jobs followed, including MOBIL Oil which later wanted to transfer me to the capital of the Confederacy. My wife said, "you can go to Richmond but me and your two kids are staying here". Many more jobs followed, including MCI in the Springs and now working for the State of South Dakota.  Can not afford to retire thanks to the stock market and my risk level.  Just me and my dog named Sue living in SD.  I have two very grown kids and two three grand kids, two daughters and now a boy, all calling Colorado home.

UPDATE

Caught a very bad infection while working.  It lead to three hospitalizations.  The net result is I have trouble breathing with heart problems.  I would love to moved back to Colorado, but I am afraid of the altitude with my breathing issues.  Best to you all, Wish I could attend.

JOYCE CLOER (Peterson)

Marital status: Married
Children: 4
Occupation: Registered Nurse
Comment:
it has absolutely been a lifetime of events.  I married Joe Vinnola and dropped out of school at the end of my junior year.  It was very stupid, but love conquers all.  I regret the missing school, not the marriage.  To find your soul-mate is the greatest blessing. We moved to Arkansas in 1970, started a business and he died at 44 of cancer.

I went to college again, and became a nurse.  It has been my therapy and love.  I have received much more that I have given.  Healthcare is my passion and I encourage everyone to get involved.  Our generation will be affected the most.

I have remarried and I'm lucky to have all my children a few miles away.  I changed jobs from a "for profit hospital" to a "faith based hospital" this Spring.  Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend.  I wish you all good health.
