The first few years after WRHS were spent at CSU, getting married to Edie and having a daughter Carissa. Early studies were FAC and at the Student Union playing bridge which got me kicked out. My petition to return was granted and marriage saved the day being awarded with a BA. We moved to California and had another daughter Trisha, then proceeded to move all over the state working in utility contracting which became my life’s vocation. Utility contracting required lots of travel, throughout the US and Canada. This got me lots of award miles, many of which were used to take the family to Italy, England, New Zealand and many trips back to the East Coast. We have lived in Northern California for the last 37 years, with short stints in Tucson and Southern California. The family has grown by three grandsons with no further growth expected, at least for a few years. Our live-at-home kids are now 2 Cairn Terriers, Izzy and Morgan who go almost everywhere with us, including an upcoming trip in August. I retired in 2006 and now play golf and work in the garden/yard. I am still married to Edie, an incredible lady, mother and friend. Getting old really sucks!! |

After high school, I diddled around for a good long while, in places like Mexico, Idaho, Oregon, New York, Arizona, Africa, Spain and Viet Nam, interspersed with attempts at going to school. I earned a meager living as dishwasher, cook, field worker, library assistant, mail sorter, community development worker, soldier, bass player, and framing carpenter. Finally, after Viet Nam, I got married, seriously went to school, and became a family doctor. I worked in various community health centers in California and Arizona, and am currently in part time private practice in Susanville CA. I have a wife, three kids and two grandkids. In my spare time I build weird guitars, play dobro, and try to keep things running. I am hoping that I'm living in my last house, from where they'll have to drag me kicking and screaming to the nursing home. Edit July 2014: I'm retired now, and am playing dobro twice a month in a bluegrass jam and electric bass in a blues/rock jam every week. We even play in local bars, but have yet to be paid for it. My main activity, besides maintenance of the homestead, is building stringed musical instruments - mainly acoustic and electric basses and guitars. Those in the photo are some Fender knockoffs I completed early this year. Edit 5/2022: No change, except due to pandemic haven't jammed for 2 years, and the way things are going it won't happen again soon, if ever. I've pretty much lost any hope I had in people's ability to act responsibly and compassionately. Earlier this year I had a local show of photo portraits I took of my patients at the end of the last century, and I'm trying to learn video editing now to make some singer/songwriter youtube videos for a friend. |

Highlights after high school: College at Georgia Southwestern in Americus, Ga. U.S.M.C. 1965-1969 Graduated Honor Man from boot camp, received two meritorious promotions, started flying. (Ran into Ron Sollenbarger at Navy Glynco, Georgia). Married Barbara Olson June, 1965. Went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller. Graduated from ATC school at OKC (Oklahoma City), then worked at Denver Center in Longmont Co, Salt lake City Tower and a few others. Retired as Tower Manager of Grand Junction Tower, Co. From 1965 untill 1985 we lived out of Colorado in ten different states. It's good to be back home. I attended seminary during the last few years before retiring and started pastoring at the Methodist Church in Mesa, Co. I started a trucking company. Bought a Peterbilt and hauled flatbed all over Colorado. WE sold our 30 acres in Mesa, Co. and moved to Kansas; I bought a Methodist Church building that had been converted to a 12,500 sq ft home (great idea untill you try to heat it). The town happened to be Greensburg, KS. It was wiped out by an E.F. 5 tornado May, 2007 with winds in excess of 236 M.P.H. Everything we had was destroyed, but we came through without a scratch. Barb and I now live here in Colorado, finally fully retired. We enjoy taking road trips in our Corvette (which I've slobbered for since I was fourteen) and we take our motor home for longer stays. Life is good. High points of life: Accepting Jesus and turning my life around after a harrowing legal ordeal. Marrying Barbara Olson (Chad Olson's sister) Flying supersonic in an F-106 and a F-101 fighter. Taking our horses into the Bob Marshall wilderness area and seeing grizzly bears and mountain lions up close and personal. Many, many other things, but mostly --having been able to do it all with Barb. My thanks to all of you who have worked so tirelessly to make our reunion special to all of us. I wish all our class the very best and look forward to seeing you again. |

My life really began in 1962—graduated in June—got engaged to marry my wonderful husband in July—we had been dating for two years—we married on September 10, 1962, (YES—WE’LL CELEBRATE OUR 50th ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR!). Bernie my husband was in the Air Force so, we honey-mooned on our way to Merced, Ca. where he was stationed, we lived there the next three years until his discharge in 1965. We then came back to Colorado our 1st son was 9 months old. We purchased our first home in Arvada we had our 2nd son while there and just kept moving north, to Longmont, then Berthoud. My husband was blessed to be hired with IBM in 1974, by this time we had had our 3rd son and finally our only daughter. In 1987—IBM moved us to Kentucky and Bernie retired from IBM in 1996. Our 4 children all, finished school in their selected vocations. We then moved to Texas and worked with Texas Instruments until retiring permanently. We were called on a Mission and served 1 ½ years in Uganda, East Africa. We wrote a daily journal titled “EVERY DAY IS AN ADVENTURE IN AFRICA”. We would not trade our LOVE for the beautiful people of Uganda, and the spiritual experiences for anything in this world. We now have 16 grand-children—14 are girls and our 1st Great-Grand daughter was born Jan. 11, 2012. We did lose one of our granddaughters in 2001 when she passed away at 2.5 years with Hypo-Plastic-Left Heart Syndrome. This was a very traumatic experience in our lives and she is missed but we know she resides with a loving Heavenly Father and we will be with her again after this life when the resurrection takes place. |
