Profiles and Bios

If you are a member of the 1962 graduating class, or would have been if you had stayed at Wheat Ridge High, we would really like you to create a profile and tell something about yourself. You can always update your profile with current information. Your address, phone number and email address are not visible to anyone other than yourself and the website administrator. You can contact other Classmates through the 'Send This Person a Message' link below their profile.

This page has a 'Where Are They Now' button which, when clicked, displays a map of the cities and states where registered classmates live. You might be living near someone and not know it!

Check out the 'Sort' and 'Search' functions. The more classmates that register, the more handy these features will become.

Your registration helps attract other classmates to the site. The effectiveness of the website is a direct correlation to the number of classmates who register. Registering also enables you to post to the Message Board.

Connie Shields (Sawdey)

Marital status: Married
Children: 5
Occupation: Retired
Comment: I am enjoying being retired with my husband Leonard. We have five wonderful children and twenty even more wonderful grand children, (seventeen girls and three boys).

The last few years have been trying yet satifying. My husband Leonard was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was given three months to live, and that was three years ago. We spend most of our time together, just enjoying each others company and appreciating each day as it comes.

I am in pretty good heath. I had triple bypass surgery about twenty years ago and type two diabetes, but I take very good care of myself and have my health issues under pretty good control.

All of my children are of course grown and some even have grown children of their own. They each grew up very different from one another and are each doing well in whatever endeavour they enter into.

Twenty  grand children, WOW! Some of them have grown and gotten married. They found pretty good husbands and are all starting their lives out with passion and great enthusiasim. No Great Grand children yet though.

Feel free to send me an email and let me know how you are doing.

Alice Smith (Graue)

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Real Estate Broker
Comment: I married Les Smith (Class of 1960) in December 1964.  We spent 2 years in Heidelberg, Germany while Les was in the service.  We then settled back in Colorado where we raised 2 daughters.  We now have 5 grandchildren and are blessed to have them all live near us.  Our lives are filled with going to their activities, lots of soccer games and concerts.  Les has been retired for about 10 years and I am still selling real estate.  We enjoy spending time at our house in the mountains and traveling.  I still spend time playing bridge, tennis, snowshoeing and hiking.

Charlyn Smith (Dowling)

Marital status: Married
Occupation: Social worker
Comment: I graduated from CSU in Fort Collins in 1966. From there, I joined the Navy as an ensign. I was stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. I was honorably discharged after two years and went to work as a social worker in child welfare in five counties west of Houston, Texas.

I got my MSW degree in 1975 from the Worden School of Social Work Service in San Antonio, Texas. I worked as a social worker at the VA in Houston on medicine, psychiatry and rehab. I transferred to the VA in Maine and worked in psychiatry. I then moved back to Denver in 1982 and worked as a social worker at Denver Health and Hospitals.

I'm now living in Des Moines, Iowa since 1989 where I worked at the county as a social worker. My husband Clyde works in Des Moines. I volunteer with the Drake Literacy Center and Freedom for Youth Ministries.

My husband and I have befriended families from Liberia through Crossroads Fellowship Christian Reformed Church. We thank God for His direction in our lives and for the many friends we've met in this area.

I hope things go well for the Class of '62 reunion. Thank you for the outstanding job you and the committee are doing!
