Profiles and Bios

If you are a member of the 1962 graduating class, or would have been if you had stayed at Wheat Ridge High, we would really like you to create a profile and tell something about yourself. You can always update your profile with current information. Your address, phone number and email address are not visible to anyone other than yourself and the website administrator. You can contact other Classmates through the 'Send This Person a Message' link below their profile.

This page has a 'Where Are They Now' button which, when clicked, displays a map of the cities and states where registered classmates live. You might be living near someone and not know it!

Check out the 'Sort' and 'Search' functions. The more classmates that register, the more handy these features will become.

Your registration helps attract other classmates to the site. The effectiveness of the website is a direct correlation to the number of classmates who register. Registering also enables you to post to the Message Board.

Now I am trying to retire from my job at Arts at St Johns. Since the organization doesn't have much money, it is hard to find a replacement.

My main interest now is native plants of the circum-Caribbean area. I want to write a book on how plants and foods can build bridges between cultures.

We have a home in Miami Beach and another on the NW side of Lake Okeechobee, where we look out upon cattle ranches and palm trees, near the Seminole Reservation. I have planted or uncovered many native plants. This is the area where the prehistoric Glades Indians built a mound community. I really like researching all the culture and environment here.

Sorry I won't be at the reunion. Next time, God willing.

What's a favorite high school memory: Doing research for papers - honestly. Nerd I am.
Which faculty members do you best remember: Mr. Weatherbee, Art teacher, and Mrs. Knudtson, Latin teacher
What was fun to do in Wheat Ridge during your high school years: Read. Drink beer. Dance, Sunbathe.

Comment: (Karen Littlepage Thomas learned in May 2022 that Paul Hood died in 2018 from Lung Cancer).

After I graduated from Wheat Ridge in 1962, my family moved to Orlando, Florida.  I spend some time in Flagstaff, Arizona where I went to Jr. High and 1/2 of 9th grade, then joined them.  I never liked Florida and left there in 8 months.  I worked on a shrimp boat out of Port Isabel Texas, then returned to Denver where I worked for Fontius Shoes and lived on Glenarm Place.  In February 1964 I went to San Francisco and lived in the Bay Area for 33 years, mostly in Marin County, with a stint in the Haight Ashbury in 1967 & 1968!  I married at 22, had a son, divorced and married my present wife in 1969.  We raised my son, who now lives in Venice Beach, CA and makes his living as an actor, mostly doing commercials.  He has three children and is on his second marriage.

In 1990 we started visiting Bailey, CO, bought property there in 1994 and in 1997 we moved back to Colorado.  We now live in a log home on 50 acres in the mountains near Bailey.  See my Facebook page for a picture spread.

I got a BA in Anthropology, with a focus in Archaeology in 1975 from San Francisco State University.  In 1986 I went to Sonoma State University for a Certificate in Alcohol and Driug Abuse Counseling.  In 1992, I completed a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage, Family and Child Counseling.  I am now a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in Bailey and Evergreen, CO after working in the alcohol and drug treatment field from 1987-2010.

Comment: I've lived on the east coast for the last thirty-years. My office is a ten minute train ride from NYC. I've worked in the insurance claims buisness since college graduation and fourteen years ago started my own buisness as a third party administrator. In July this year I sold the company to a private equity group and over the next two years I expect to transition out of the buisness and finally retire. I still have family in the Denver area and where my wife and I are considering a second home, while keepng a home in the New York area.

Comment:  I'm content to be a wife after many years of various work (nursing, banking, flight attendant) - it's nice to be settled and enjoy my husband of 12+ years, Roger.   Between us we have one son, two daughters and five grandkids ... Life is good!

Main hobby is cooking - am also involved in music via Boulder Friends of Jazz as membership chairman & newsletter editor ... and was recently elected as president of the club.

Am looking forward to renewing old acquaintances via the reunion!  See you then!
