Profiles and Bios

If you are a member of the 1962 graduating class, or would have been if you had stayed at Wheat Ridge High, we would really like you to create a profile and tell something about yourself. You can always update your profile with current information. Your address, phone number and email address are not visible to anyone other than yourself and the website administrator. You can contact other Classmates through the 'Send This Person a Message' link below their profile.

This page has a 'Where Are They Now' button which, when clicked, displays a map of the cities and states where registered classmates live. You might be living near someone and not know it!

Check out the 'Sort' and 'Search' functions. The more classmates that register, the more handy these features will become.

Your registration helps attract other classmates to the site. The effectiveness of the website is a direct correlation to the number of classmates who register. Registering also enables you to post to the Message Board.

We have two wonderful kids, Dianne (46) and John (45) and four grandkids, Jason (24), Janelle (22), Jami (21) and Niki (19), all of whom live in metro Denver area except Janelle who lives in Grand Junction, CO.

Ron Ferguson (Deceased)

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Retired - Mountain Bell
Comment: "Ron", born in Taylor, NE, son of Wayne and Celia Ferguson (deceased) died April 9, 2012 with his family by his side in Lakewood, CO.

Ron graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1962, where he excelled at many sports. After graduation, he served our country in the U.S. Navy, where he achieved the rank of Boatswain’s mate 3rdClass and was Honorably Discharged. In 1965, Ron joined Mountain Bell. After 30 years of service and achieving the title of Outside Construction Supervisor, Ron retired.

His retirement came early, as he was diagnosed with a terminal illness and given 6 months to live. Ron lived a full and rich life for 20 plus years after his diagnosis. He and Cindy (Cindy Bagby - WRHS Class of '63) were able to take two Caribbean cruises, and travel to Hawaii and Las Vegas. He also bought and rebuilt a Classic Corvette.

Ron was most proud of his children’s accomplishments, which included seeing them get married and have families of their own. He deeply loved his four grand-daughters who will miss their “Papa” very much.

We are so fortunate, as Ron has been an example to us all with his strength, courage and love.

Comment: After graduating from WHS my family and I moved back to Salt Lake City, Utah.  I have only great memories of high school and the Wheatridge/Golden/Denver areas.

My next great adventure was to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  I was called to the Cook Islands, South Pacific.  I enjoyed my two and one half years living in the Cook Islands with the Maori people.  Great Experience.

My next great adventure was to attend Southern Utah University, in Cedar City, Utah.  I played football for SUU until a knee injury limited my football skills.  I graduated with a teaching degree in Physical Education and Business Education.  Later I received a Masters degee from the University of Utah.

Marriage was next.  My wife Kathy and I have been married 40 years.  We have five children and six grandchildren.  Never a dull moment being a husband, father, and grandfather.

I taught Junior High School physical education for 34 years.  I also had the opportunity to coach basketball, volleyball, wrestling, soccer and track and field.  I am now in my 6th year of teaching Adapted Physical Education for special education students.

My favorite lifetime activities are fishing, riding my motorcycle, going to BYU and U of U football games with my grandchildren, (anybody living in the Denver area need a friend to go with them to a Broncos game ?), and living at Bear Lake (June, July, and August).

I would like to appolige in advance if I do not remember names and faces.  I have been diagnosed with CRS.  The good news is that no one has ever died from CRS.  The bad news is I C an't  R emember  S hit.

Looking forward to the WHS 50th.
