Lawrence "Larry" Schreiber

Lawrence Charles Schreiber, age 71, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 in Mesa, Arizona, after a battle with cancer. Larry was born on March 26, 1944 in Laramie, Wyoming to Harold and Ruth Schreiber.



He grew up with his brother Richard in Wheat Ridge, Colorado where he also graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1962. After high school, Larry attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs for 1 year. He then attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he met his beautiful wife Tomie Loy Call. In 1964 Larry was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Larry and Tomie were married in Afton, Wyoming on June 4, 1965. They were then sealed in the Idaho Falls, ID Temple on June 8, 1965. Larry received a BA degree from BYU in Animal Science. He then continued his education with a fellowship from Oregon State University for upper graduate work. Larry lived with his family in Clatskanie, Oregon where he worked for Maverik Country Stores. He later moved to Afton, Wyoming where he continued to work for Maverik Country Stores for over 20 years. Larry, with his family, owned the Royal Resort (Alpen Haus) in Alpine, Wyoming. Later in life, Larry and his wife moved to Saratoga Springs, Utah, where he served in his church and community for the last 10 years.



Larry was a leader in the scouting program, he was a scout master and received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America. He helped over 50 young men receive their Eagle Scout Award. Larry loved the outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman. As a member of Trout Unlimited he planned and organized the Trout Unlimited Fishing day in Star Valley, Wyoming for several years. Larry loved to hunt, hike, and explore the mountains of Wyoming and Utah, he also loved boating and water skiing. Family and travel was his passion, he vacationed in many parts of United States and Mexico. He enjoyed family history and loved researching his genealogy. Larry was brave and faced challenges in his life with a positive attitude. He had an optimistic outlook on life. He was a strong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
