
William (Bill) Petersen
1944-08-17 2014-07-01"Denver Post" - July 5, 2014: William Giertz Petersen, known to friends and family as Bill, peacefully passed away July 1st, 2014 in Wheat Ridge, CO at the age of 69. Born August 17, 1944 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Edna and Giertz Petersen, Bill was raised in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and was the oldest of four siblings. Bill was a lifelong music fan and consummate story teller. He worked for the Parks and Recreation Department of Denver for over 30 years coaching and mentoring youth. Bill was a dedicated father, husband, brother, uncle, coach, mentor and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Roger Petersen. He is survived by his children William Petersen Jr. and Jackie Auvigne, sister Kristine Petersen-Hunzinger, brother David Petersen, former wife Linda Petersen, current wife Vicky, his two grandchildren Ryan and Carter Auvigne, and a loving extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Denver Police Athletic League in his name. A memorial will be held at Wheat Ridge Presbyterian, Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. 9180 W. 38th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO.
I first met Bill in 5th grade. Always a fun guy. He coached my niece's Softball team in the late 60's early 70s. so sorry for his passing,.
