From the "Delta County Independent": Linda Penick 1944-2007 Linda Dorothy Penick of Eckert died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at her home. She was 62. Mrs. Penick was born June 5, 1944, in Denver, to Kenneth and Dorothy (Bailey) Austin. She spent her childhood in Wheat Ridge and graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1962. She married Dave Penick on Sept. 3, 1961, in Cedaredge. He survives. Mrs. Penick was a volunteer counselor at the Easter Seals Handicapped Summer Camp from 1950 to 1961. She was a Cub Scout den mother in the 1970s and a surrogate mother to several Australian and Thai foreign exchange students. She lived in the Denver and Wheatridge areas before moving to Delta County in 1981. She enjoyed her granddaughter. She was head cashier for the Gibson’s Store in Delta for many years. She is survived by her husband, Dave Penick of Eckert; two sons, Brian Penick of Lakewood, and Rob Penick of Wagoner, Okla.; a brother, Jim Austin of Westcliffe; and a granddaughter, Katelin Penick of Wagoner, Okla. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at Mesa View Mortuary Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. I don't know if anyone will read this at this late date.  Linda was one of my best friends, had a beautiful voice and sang at my wedding.  Was in contact for awhile but then lost touch.God bless her boys and granddaughter and know that their is a beautiful voice in the choir of angels.
