Janice was killed in an auto accident in 1969.  No details have been found in public records, but please see the tribute written by Sarah Chandler, a close friend of Janice.

Janice loved life, horses, her daughter, her husband and her friends, beyond measure.Janice died in a single-vehicle automobile accident.  She was taking her infant daughter Vonnie to the Stock Show to show her off to her rodeo friends.  As an adult, Janice had developed epilepsy as a result of scarring from repeated concussions arising from her love of horses and riding.  Janice had a series of automobile accidents related to her epileptic seizures, two of which resulted in tragic deaths.  In spite of being a prohibited driver, Janice continued to drive when she felt the need and couldn't access public transportation.  Janice's tragic history cost the lives of her older brother Allen, my roommate Patsy DeYoung, and ultimately herself and her child.   My own struggle to cope with these tragedies  led me to learn more about the implications of brain injury.  I had the opportunity in later years to work for a time at the Spalding Rehabilitation Centre  where I learned more about impaired judgement capacity as a potentially deadly silent partner of  even seemingly minor brain injury.
