Dan Donelan
1944-01-03 1983-11-08I don't have Pete's voacabulary--I used to just say Dan 'had balls' My last visit with Dan was when he picked me up at the airport before I left to Chicago for my indefinite stay We stopped at a bar (or do you call it a tavern?) for some Coor's With Dan's good looks and charm--two girls came over There was not much excitement when they saw me-- but, Dan said we came as a package deal--like it or shove it We decided to meet at the base of Lookout mountain-- On the way, Dan got a flat tire-- A good neighbor in a truck stopped and helped us-- Dan gave the guy a tip, but as the guy pulled away, Dan went ballistic He said he thought he gave the guy $10, but it was a hundred dollar bill-- We raced after the good samaritan and you can guess the outcome: The guy got away, and when we came back, the two girls also got away Our last night together was truley memorable-- Dan lost $100, and, We both missed out on a night with girls who would have probably been our future wives Thanks Pete for rekindling a thought process about a special friend-- By the way, Pete, How is it you retired from a profession where you: look at-- talk to--sometimes grope--and then write on a piece of paper what pills people need-- To me, that doesn't sound too exhausting (Can you tell my jealousy is surfacing?) Great guitars- Looks really are deceiving--you have more talent than your flesh reveals
tribute by charles martinezDan was a funny guy with lots of chutzpah. I remember him in music class in the 5th grade - I don't remember the music teacher's last name, but I sure as hell remember her first name, when Dan answered her "Yes, Barbara," and got sent to the principal's office.
