Hello.  Following is a quote from a book I just read -- a bit of a coincidence I read this just now.  ". . . A lot of people don't have fond memories of high school.  It's often a war of politics and personalities, set off by the cannon fire of hormones."  I'm sure each of us has our own thoughts about that.  Fifty years ago I was a young, naive high school graduate setting off in life.  Now 50 years later I'm just old.  I know a little bit about a lot and a lot about nothing -- some might even say a know-it-all (haha).  Most of what little I think I know, I forgot I knew it.  I haven't been diagnosed with dementia yet, but it is only a matter of time, and I will deny it to the end!  I am as middle class as you can get and I have come to embrace it.  After all, without a middle there is no beginning or end; no top, no bottom.  Ya gotta have a strong core.
The first half of my working experience was in accounting for Cargill, Inc. (10 years) and Associated Grocers.  I had a brief temporary assignment as an assistant to the social workers in the Juvenile Dept. of the Adams County Dept of Social Services as it was then known (a frustrating and sad, but illuminating experience).  This was followed by 10 years as a legal secretary for an attorney in Lakewood.
I am married to an awesome man, Jon Cassel, 36 years, who has gotten me from point A to point B in one piece.  He is my rock.  He was one of the last employees out the door at Rocky Flats and now works for a subcontractor at LANL in Los Alamos, NM.  We live next door to a fascinating man and one of the few remaining scientists who worked on The Manhattan Project and who reminisces as having sat at a board table in the presence of 4 or 5 Nobel Prize winners!  It's a strange feeling to live in a place that's only as old as we are.  It's been quite an experience!  Jon also served as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years and retired from the Arvada Volunteer Fire Department, Station 5.  I have 3 exceptional daughters -- Heather, together with husband Brian have their own business, K&Z Electric 303 503 4888, and parents of 3 treasured grandsons; Jennifer, a police officer for the City and County of Denver and mom to 1 treasured grandson; and Carrie, mom to our only beautiful treasured granddaughter and 1 treasured grandson.
That's it in a nutshell.  See you at the Carnation Festival and dinner.

Greetings fellow Farmers,
High school is only a vague memory for me, as I did not participate in school activities.  Wish I had.  The bios indicate what good people we have in our class.
I graduated from CSU in 1966.  That was the fun time for me, and where I met Larry.  We married in 1966 and stayed in Fort Collins while we both got Masters degrees.  In 1969 we moved to Ohio.  I taught while Larry worked on his PhD at Ohio State.  The plan was to move back to Colorado when he finished, but we ended up at Wright State U. in Ohio, where we remain.  I stayed home with our two daughters until they were in school, then went back to teaching.  Larry taught and did research at WSU.  He traveled the world to scientific meetings, and I sometimes accompanied him.  We have wonderful memories, and changed insights about the world, from those visits.  We are both retired now, and our travels are more in the US than overseas.  Much of my time now is devoted to our seven grandchildren, who bring us so much happiness and fun.  We have a few acres in the country where they like to play.  Life is good!

May 21, 1944 Engineer Married 2
College, University of Colorado, BS Civil Engineering
Graduate School, University of Washington, MBA
Started my working career for the world’s largest construction company, Bechtel Corporation, then Stearns Rogers, and continued to smaller construction companies until starting my own business Turn Key General Contractors in 1993. I sold that company to my employees (2005) and with mostly sweat equity constructed Academy View Self Storage across from the Air Force Academy, academystorage.com. I married Lynne Peters (1978) and we have two children. Our daughter and her husband and our two grandchildren live only a mile from us. Our son lives in our house in Hawaii. We spend our winter months there! I return for spring skiing. To stay in some kind of shape I play racquetball and senior softball. It has been our privilege over the past 40 years to participate in mission’s trips all over the world, Haiti, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Botswana, Ukraine, Russia, Venezuela, and Thailand. We have committed to going to Thailand each fall for a month to do water projects and to minister to any other needs the hill tribe people groups have in Northern Thailand. These people know real poverty! Few have electricity, running water (never hot, and if they have cold running water it is polluted), no sewer, no heat other than a wood fire on sand on the floor of their bamboo hut, grass roof, one bedroom for 10 family members all sleeping on a thin mat on the floor, work from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm every day with only two tools, a machete and a hoe. If anyone is interested in going to Thailand with us please let us know. It is a life changing experience! And, no, you are not too old or feeble!!

December 20 Teacher/Principal Married 3 Skiing with Kandahar ski club Vern Wetherby, Eunice Newman, Larry McWilliams

My husband, Gary, and I live in Coal Creek Canyon where we have lived since 1976. We obviously love the mountains.  Currently our son, Jonathan, lives with us.  Our other son, Timothy, lives in Westminster with his wife, Robin, and three little boys, Liam 9, Ewan 7, and Jude 2.  Our daughter, Melissa, lives in Arvada with her two little ones, Bradley 7 and Jayme 5.  My mom still lives in our old home in Wheat Ridge.

I recently retired from Jefferson County Schools.  I worked for only one employer my whole career.  I started out teaching French, then art, then elementary grades 1 through 4.  I spent my last dozen years in my favorite positions as assistant principal and  principal.  I loved the work and miss it, but not the long hours.
Gary is not retired; he still designs, sells, and remodels kitchens.

We enjoy our family, friends, and church family at Arvada Covenant Church.  We generally travel several times a year to Mazatlan, Mexico, for pleasure and to the missions that we support in Spain, Honduras, Mexico, and Alaska Christian College in Soldotna, Alaska.  All that keeps us happily busy.

Wow, are we really old enough to have been out of high school almost 50 years - I don't feel that old ....

I have been retired for sometime and have enjoyed every year of it and still do - however, not the same way as I did - I lost my best friend - my husband John, in February of 09 we spent 28 of the very best years ever together - but one must pick up the peices and go on which is what I am doing....

I enjoy golf, biking, walking with my new "boyfriend" a puppy named Yeager...traveling, spending time with my wonderful family and friends....I am active in my church and club activities as well....in other words life is as good as you make it...and for me it is good....

November 01, 1944 piano teacher, shepherdess www.bellwetherwool.com Married 3 Junior Play, Mrs. Newnam flirt
In the summer after my Jr. year at WHS, we moved to Walnut Creek, California.
After high school, I moved back to Colorado, worked as a bank teller and married Don Hansen (Holy Family 1957). We lived in Evergreen and enjoyed hiking, skiing and rock climbing until Don returned to college at University of California, Davis and graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine in 1972. Meantime, I got some college under my belt while also working for UCDavis.
Don was in private practice for 12 years. In 1981, UCDavis sent us to Brazil where we lived for 2 years (missing WHS 25th reunion!) We then settled in Corvallis, Oregon on our small sheep farm where I have my private music studio. Don worked at Oregon State University, Veterinary Medicine before becoming Oregon's State Veterinarian.  Our 3 remarkable children are: a professional singer, an entrepreneur, and a helicopter pilot. Along with their awesome spouses, we have 5 fabulous grandchildren from 18 months to 15 years old.
Besides private teaching and managing our farm, I've taught pre-school and elementary school music, am a published free-lance writer (always loved Englilsh classes!), a passionate fiber artist - quilter, spinner, weaver, and a sculptor (loved art classes, too). I'm still "horse crazy" and ride our horses often. We're active in our church, and do a lot of travelling, camping, fishing, hiking, concert going, and spending time with family. We've travelled throughout the USA, Mexico, Canada, South America and Europe, and with rumors of retirement in the near future, we hope to do more!
Looking forward to the upcoming reunion!
