May 23, 1944 Homemaker Married 2 Farmers' Barn after football games Miss Lynen...a great teacher! Making posters at pot luck dinners, Sadie Hawkens Day, Pom Pom Girl, basketball games

After high school, I worked a year at Mtn Bell to save enough money to go to CSU.  Did that, and after three weeks, decided it was not for me.  Worked for U.S. Forest Service two years, followed by two years with United Air Lines (flight attendant).  Then on to Ball Aerospace (secretary) where I met Dick.  We married and I  "retired" very early to stay home to enjoy our two children which I found to be the hardest but most rewarding job of all.  Now enjoying grandkids, gardening, golf, bible study, and travel.  I have been on two of my husband's mission trips to northern Thailand, where he, with others, has built schools, churches and a medical clinic for the hill tribes.  We have been blessed!

May 26, 1944 Tourism Married 2
After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Arizona in Tucsoon, AZ, I moved with husband - Richard - to New Jersey where we lived 22 years 2 long.

I was lucky to be a stay at home Mom and raised two children Jay & Robin.  Jay is a successful lawyer inSeattle, WA and has recently started Seven Bays Winery in Davenport, WA.  Robin is a MD/Phd specializing in infectious disease and a research scientist.

I worked with husband in New York City on Wall Street as Financial Printers.  We moved to Colorado in 1988 where I was fortunate to start a new career in tourism as a Tour Director, Tour Planner and finally a Tour Operator with my own business Tumblewqeed Tours.

After 9/11 fiinancial printing dried up in New York and tourism also took a dive.  We started a new ventur Bankruptcy Mailing Service.  We chose to sacle down and moved toTucson in 2005 where it is always warm and sunny - sometimes downreight hot - and continued  Bankruptcy Mailing Serivce.

I have recently started to volunteer at the Arizona Historical Society and they have asked me to plan their fund raising trips and guide enrichment programs.  It is a life line for me as I really miss tourism.

Who knows what is around the next corner.

August 21, 1944 Married 2
During high school I had no plans to attend college but after being laid off from my first "real" job I attended Colorado State University in 1963.  Through the years I also attended Metropolitan State College and Red Rocks and Front Range Community Colleges.  My entire career was as a secretary; my last employment was with the City of Westminster (1976-1991).

The summer of 1963 I married my first husband and we had two daughters; we divorced in 1966.  I married my second husband in 1967 and we stayed together for over 13 years (happy for the most part); we divorced in 1980.  After two tries I had no intention of a third marriage but in 1989 I married my current husband, James Black; we will celebrate 23 years this summer.  Jim was a Professional Engineer and Registered Land Surveyor and retired in 2004 after 20 years with the City and County of Broomfield as Community Development Director.  When we married our four children served as witnesses.  Unfortunately we have lost all three of our daughters: his daughter (1971-1994) died in an auto accident, my oldest daughter (1964-2000) died from a rare lung disease, and my youngest daughter (1965-2012) recently died from a heart attack due to hypertension.  Our remaining son/stepson lives in Federal Heights with his wife, daughter (age 7), and son (age 2).  After completing degrees from CU and DU he got itchy feet and traveled through Europe for a time but ended up in Taiwan teaching English to Chinese children and where he met his wife.  He has his MSW and works with families who have substance abuse problems, and he and his wife recently opened a Chinese language school in Broomfield.  My youngest daughter gave me three grandchildren: Jessica (27 in June) lives in Nebraska with her husband and my two great-grandsons (ages 3 and almost 2); Marc (21 in Sep) is in the Air Force stationed in Florida and just married last March; and Amy (16 in Aug) lives in Colorado Springs and this fall will begin her sophomore year in high school.

Jim and I are beginning to feel the effects of the aging process and no longer are able to do all the things we used to.  He has COPD and last fall I had a minor stroke that continues to annoy my left foot.  Since 1991 I have spent -- and still do spend -- many, many hours pursuing my interest in family genealogy.  We reside with our two cats in Westminster in the house I have now been in for the last 36 years and we have no plans to leave until God says it's time to move on.  I hope everyone has a fantastic reunion!

In 1990 we started visiting Bailey, CO, bought property there in 1994 and in 1997 we moved back to Colorado.  We now live in a log home on 50 acres in the mountains near Bailey.  See my Facebook page for a picture spread.

June 10, 1944 Construction Contract Administrator, Married 3 Homecoming bonfire Mr. Weatherbee Bowling club

After hopes of pursuing a college education were dashed with the passing of my father, I embarked on my lifelong career with the federal government (2/63) as a draftsman with the Bureau of Reclamation at the Denver Federal Center. With some college course work at CU Denver, I moved upward as a Civil Engineering Technician. I left the Bureau in July of  ‘72 and transferred to the Federal Housing Administration as an Architectural Examiner in the Denver Insuring Office of the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development. Eventually I became a Multifamily Construction Contract Administrator and twenty five years later (‘97) VP Gore reinvented the government and gave me an early retirement. Passing through the revolving door, I contracted back as a consultant doing construction contract administration and continue in semi-retirement to this day. Along the way I met and married  Joyce Lambert in ‘70 (Jefferson High ’66). We were blessed with two sons, John Jr. and Jeremy, daughter JoAnna, and nine grandkids between them. We have made the Bear Creek area our home for the past 34 years. Along the way I managed to coach both boys little league baseball teams, volunteered for and served as an officer of the Bear Creek Junior Sports Association including two stints a president. Now days I continue my love of bowling, play golf, very poorly, lead an active church life, and am making a return attempt at becoming an artist, in these, our golden years.

Thanks Scott for all your effort and this wonderful webpage, and to the committee for your efforts. See you in August.

Married 4

My life really began in 1962—graduated in June—got engaged to marry my wonderful husband in July—we had been dating for two years—we married on September 10, 1962, (YES—WE’LL CELEBRATE OUR 50th ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR!).

Bernie my husband was in the Air Force so, we honey-mooned on our way to Merced, Ca. where he was stationed, we lived there the next three years until his discharge in 1965.  We then came back to Colorado our 1st son was 9 months old.  We purchased our first home in Arvada we had our 2nd son while there and just kept moving north, to Longmont, then Berthoud.

My husband was blessed to be hired with IBM in 1974, by this time we had had our 3rd son and finally our only daughter.

In 1987—IBM moved us to Kentucky and Bernie retired from IBM in 1996.  Our 4 children all, finished school in their selected vocations.  We then moved to Texas and worked with Texas Instruments until retiring permanently.  We were called on a Mission and served 1 ½ years in Uganda, East Africa.  We wrote a daily journal titled “EVERY DAY IS AN ADVENTURE IN AFRICA”. We would not trade our LOVE for the beautiful people of Uganda, and the spiritual experiences for anything in this world.

We now have 16 grand-children—14 are girls and our 1st Great-Grand daughter was born Jan. 11, 2012.

We did lose one of our granddaughters in 2001 when she passed away at 2.5 years with Hypo-Plastic-Left Heart Syndrome.  This was a very traumatic experience in our lives and she is missed but we know she resides with a loving Heavenly Father and we will be with her again after this life when the resurrection takes place.
